LINE GUIDES Line guides can be boiled down to 2 basic catergories - Wire guides and Ceramics. The traditional way of building a fly rod would include a ceramic stripping guide (2 on heavier rods) followed by snake wire guides. With the improvements that have been made in ceramics in the past few years high end rods have started to move to using all ceramic guides for rods designed for heavier line weights. Ceramic guides are heavier than wire guides but are much stronger. | These are traditional snake guides offered by Pacific Bay. They are available in Super Hard Chrome, Black Chrome, TiGOLD and TiCH coatings. The light wire version of these guides are available in Super Hard Chrome and TiCH finishes. Other companies offer high carbon steel and solid titanium/nickel alloy snake guides. I offer all of these guides. |
 | These are the single foot version of a snake guide and are the perfect choice for fly rods 6WT and lower. The single foot design makes the finished rod lighter because of using less thread and finishing epoxy. |
 | Pacific Bay single foot ring type fly guides are available in the following combinations: Black Frame - Hialoy ring Black Frame - SiC (silicon carbide) Ring TiCH (titanium carbide) frame - SiC Ring Light TiCH Frame - SIC Ring Light TiCH Frame - TiBLUEÔ Ring Light TiCH Frame - TiCH Ring Light TiCH Frame - TiGOLD Ring Light TiCH Frame - TiOXÔ Ring |
Ring Materials These are the guide ring materials offered by Pacific Bay. They are diamond polished to the smoothest possible surface among the “ceramic” materials. Silicon Carbide will provide the ultimate in abrasion, corrosion, and thermal shock resistance, a performance plus on any rod where line speed, friction, and heat build-up are at the maximum. Now, with the exception of the models “B” and “RB”, our current SiC guides and tops will feature newly re-designed rings that are thinner and lighter in weight, creating the perfect balance of performance and cosmetic appeal. | | TiN AND TiCH RINGS Pacific Bay International has combined the TiGOLD™ and TiCH coatings with a diamond polished Zirconia ceramic ring. The Zirconia ring has similar qualities to Silicon Carbide. It offers the ideal surface for applying an incredibly smooth TiGOLD orTiCH finish to create one of the most durable and cosmetically appealing guides ever offered to the fishing rod manufacturing industry. | | HIALOY RINGS (Hard Aluminum Oxide) Hialoy represents the hardest grade of Aluminum Oxide available. Strength and durability allows mountingwithout a shock ring for lighter weight and better heat dissipation. Hialoy has become the most popular choice of many major rod manufacturers. This high grade ceramic ring is diamond polished to reduce friction and line wear. Hialoy guides will provide many years of service in all salt and freshwater applications making them an ideal choice for any rod. | | TITANIUM OXIDE RINGS Titanium Oxide rings are diamond polished to a smoother surface and are harder than many other manufacturer’s Aluminum Oxide guides. Strength and durability allows mounting without a shock ring. They have been an industry standard of rod manufacturers for many years and are exclusively from Pacific Bay. | | ALUMINUM OXIDE RINGS Diamond polished to a rich black surface, this Aluminum Oxide is our most economically priced material and one of the first ceramic rings to widely popularize insert guides. Strength and durability allows mounting without a shock ring. They have been utilized by rod builders for decades and are still available today | | TiBLUE™ RINGS - NEW Pacific Bay International has combined the new TiBLUE ™ PVD coating with a diamond polished Zirconia ceramic ring. The Zirconia ring has similar qualities to Silicon Carbide. It offers the ideal surface for applying an incredibly smooth PVD, (Physical Vapor Deposit) finish to create one of the most durable and cosmetically appealing guides ever offered to the fishing rod manufacturing industry. | | TiOX™ BLUE RINGS - NEW Our TiOX ™ Blue rings posses the same PVD coating process that is applied to the TiBLUE ™ , TiCH, and TiGOLD™ rings, giving the rings an even more durable and attractive appearance. The traditional titanium oxide rings have been an industry standard of rod manufacturers for many years, and are exclusively from Pacific Bay. |
